A Kite Lesson - What You Need to Include in Your Kitesurfing Equipment Bag
Going on a Kitesurfing Holiday or maybe finished your kite lesson and going to the beach for the first time without an instructor, don't get caught out without one of these essential items.
Screwdriver
A screwdriver is useful if one of your footsteps comes loose while you riding and you need to fix it back onto the board, check which head the screws on your bindings use.
Puncture/Tear Repair Kit
A bit of duct tape will suffice to cover up any small rips in your kite until you can get it to a repair shop, though a dedicated kite patch would be better. This will allow you to at lest get out on the water if you arrive at the beach and your kite has mysteriously developed a small tear overnight. A puncture repair kit is essential if your going on holiday especially to one of the more remote kitesurfing locations. Ask your kite school after your kite lessons if they can sell you these handy items.
Pliers
Useful for quick bar repairs, and a multitude of other odd tasks that require a bit extra grip...thin nosed ones are probably the best.
Spare Line
Essential if your line breaks and you need to replace it, make sure you get pre-stretched lines and always carry at least 2, you should always replace lines in pairs so if the outside line snaps replace both lines...this prevents you ending up with one line longer than the other!
Spare Leash
You'll probably at least have seen a board leash during your kite lesson these can come in highly useful if you get into sticky situations and don't want to lose your board. I don't recommend riding with a leash attached to your board unless you really have to however if you drop your kite and can't relaunch you can attach your spare leash to your board so you don't lose it while you sort the kite out.
